Web Design 2 - Interface design tryout

Creating layout for my AHR website is... harder than what I thought. x.x Made some changes from the initial idea, and this layout below is not completely done yet, still left the 'follow us' part which will be located at footer. Will improve this layout as soon as I got the time.

Anyway, just to show here my progress. The very very first version of my AHR website (I'm sure there will be changes soon). Will post up another type of interface design here too, so stay tuned~~~~

Til my next post then!!

Web Design 2 - Revised Site map and Moodboard

(*ARGH SO SORRY FOR THIS LATE POST*)

Okay. Here it is.

Revised site map. Made a bit changes on the main menu, I think with this kind of navigation the main selling point of AHR can be more obvious. Dining and Nightlife options will be main focus since for user point of view, information are more important than anything else. Events will be second priority since they are important attractions for AHR. Ok, others... are kind of the same as the last original site map.

- Sleek and Stylish MP3 player in photoshop
- Learn to create some websites' layouts in Photoshop

Okay, til my next post then. Bye bye~ =)

Web Design 2 - Beautiful Commercial Websites Analysis

Hello again! After going through the competitor's websites, it is time to look for beautiful websites for art direction references. Here are some of the nice websites I've found :D

1. Glenilen Farm

Home Page. I like the colours and the simple yet nice looking layout. The footer has some nice graphics and the overall feel is strong.

They have very nice looking products' pictures, and when you click one of the thumbnails you will go the the page on the right. I like how they take care of small details/designs for the whole website.

I like this website even more when I reach the page above. They even draw the map nicely to suit the overall art direction of the website. I've seen a lot of websites where thy just simply put a picture to show the location, but ignore the aesthetic side of map. This website notice this and I like it very much.

Web Design 2 - Competitor's Websites analysis

For AHR, took me some time to figure out their competitors because there are only a few which have almost the same concept as them (it's more difficult when some of them do not have an official website). So, I decided to look at a few types of websites:

(1) Roads which famous for dining/nightlife: Soho KL, Look Out Point, Singapore Orchard Road.
(2) Nightlife websites: Quattro, Zouk, The Opera
(3) Heritage Websites: Malay Heritage Singapore, Baba Nyonya Culture.

and perhaps to combine their good points/elements/ideas together. =)

Web Design 2 - Client's Website analysis

Asian Heritage Row. The Site Map for this site, if you are interested to know.
*Add: Asian heritage row has a very beautiful story behind. That row of houses used to be prewar houses,  they had a time where they were the abandoned ones; no one cares and everyone thought that It will just become another history and forgotten by all nations. But William Ng thought the different way. Instead of letting them go, he decided to turn those old houses into something new and trendy, at the same time to preserve as much old items/materials as possible during the construction period. When people thought it will be forgotten, he successfully made them into beautiful row of houses where people can go and enjoy nice food, and have a nice night time out. (They have mainly clubbing areas and restaurants there)

The above image is the main page (Home) for AHR. The very good thing I like about this website is their flow. They create a very nice flow for the whole website, when you click 'enter the heritage' they will lead you to the 'about' page, where you can read about the history, how they decided to build up this site and so on.

In terms of design on the other hand, I really think it could be improved. The background image is actually an interesting one, but it is a bit hard for people to notice it. I actually really like the concept behind AHR, but sadly the visual of this website is not strong enough to bring it out.

More analysis after you click 'read more'!

Interesting Tutorials =)

Yay. Here comes some Photoshop/Illustrator tutorials that i find quite interesting and useful at the same time.

Enjoy!

1. Water Colour effect Using illustrator

(I think this effect is quite pretty, it will be suitable for some websites with cool colours. ^^)

Beautiful websites!

Hi all!

Yes, i know I haven't update this blog for agessss... but now I am back! muahaha~

My college life at TOA moved on. Now im at my Year 2 Semester 2 already. It's very glad to say that we get to learn some interesting stuff this sem ^^ really excited, hope i will do well in everything.

Ok, for my Web Design 1 class, Joanne would want us to do some research on beautiful websites. After 1 day or so busy researching, here are some sites which i think is quite beautiful, yet organized at the same time.

1. GLUCONE-R

(Like the idea how they used beautiful raster pictures for the whole website to sell their concept. It's very user friendly, and looks very pretty too.)

2. Kari Jobe

(Got attracted by the background design. Love the scrapbook feel and i think the overall feeling and theme suits the singer very much. )

Get to know this Japanese artist from newspaper today. Listening to his music gives me the goosebumps, it's fascinating. Incredible. Unpredictable. Interesting. Sentimental.Romantic and so on... ... ...

I, have never heard of something like this before. How i wish i can actually own one of his CD now.

PS it's just plainly personal opinion. why not give ourselves some refreshments for our ears? ;)
